Why You Should Prioritise Stretching

Why You Should Prioritise Stretching

Stretching is not often prioritised before or after workouts. Stretching holds an extremely important place in everyone’s fitness journey. The benefits of stretching help improve range of motion, enhance athletic performance and prevents injuries.

By extending the muscles and tendons through stretching, it regulates better blood circulation and oxygen flow to muscle tissues, helping post-workout recovery.

Regular stretching relieves muscle tension and prevents injury. Incorporating dynamic stretches before exercise and static stretches after exercise can enhance muscle coordination and balance.

Dynamic stretching – actively moving the muscle through a rhythmic range of motion (squats, high knees, arm circles)

Static stretching – holding the muscle under tension in a stretched single position with no motion for around 20-45 seconds (toe touch, quad stretch, cat/cow)

Prioritise stretching as part of your fitness routine—it's not just about how flexible you are, it's about reaching your fitness goals with enhanced flexibility and improved performance.
